An EPC gives information on how energy efficient a building is and sets out how this can be improved. An EPC must be provided when a property is sold or rented. Tony is an Elmhurst Energy accredited Domestic Energy Assessor who can prepare and lodge domestic EPCs. Tony also provides an EPC simulation service to determine the most feasible way of achieving a desired rating.
As of 2030, all private landlords will be required to meet an EPC 'C' rating for their properties. Tony provides a Predicted EPC service, where existing EPC recommendations are sense-checked, and simulations of other potential improvements undertaken to determine the most feasible way of achieving a 'C' rating.
A Domestic Energy Assessment is a straightforward, non-intrusive survey of your property carried out by a qualified assessor to produce an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). During the visit, key details are recorded such as the property’s age, size and construction, insulation levels, heating and hot water systems, windows, lighting, and any renewable technologies. The assessment is used to calculate your property’s energy efficiency rating and provide recommendations for improvement.
To help the assessment run smoothly, please ensure the assessor has clear access to key areas of the property, including the boiler, hot water cylinder (if applicable), and loft hatch so insulation can be checked. It’s also helpful to have any relevant documentation available for energy efficiency improvements you’ve made, such as installation certificates for a new boiler, replacement windows, or retrofitted insulation, as this evidence can be used to ensure these features are accurately reflected in your EPC rating.
